“The Lord Jesus Christ, our hope” — 1 Timothy 1:1 NKJV
Our hope in Christ is not a fleeting or uncertain hope. It is a hope that is anchored in the unchanging character and promises of God. When we place our trust in Christ, we have the assurance that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and that all His promises will be fulfilled. In 1 Timothy 1:1, Paul describes Jesus Christ as “our hope.” This is not a hope that is based on wishful thinking or temporary circumstances, but a hope that is grounded in the unshakable foundation of who Christ is and what he has done for us.
When we fix our eyes on Jesus and trust in God’s promises, our hope is renewed and strengthened. In Christ, we have hope for the future, hope for our present circumstances, and hope for our eternal destiny. We can be confident that nothing in this world can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:39).
When we put our hope in Jesus Christ, we are not putting our hope in something that is temporary or uncertain, but we are putting our hope in something that is eternal and unshakeable. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and His promises never fail. He is faithful to fulfill all that He has promised to us, and we can trust Him completely. So let us hold fast to the unwavering hope that is found in Christ. Let us fix our eyes on Him and trust in His promises, knowing that He is faithful and true.
As Hebrews 10:23 reminds us, "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." In Christ, we have a hope that will never disappoint, a hope that is sure and steadfast, and a hope that will carry us through every trial and tribulation we may face in this life, and into eternity.
One day we will see Him. Is that hope real to you? We will be with Him forever. Do you think about that? Or have the cares of this world dimmed your hope in Him? The ultimate hope of the Christian is to see Jesus face to face. We will see Him. We will know Him fully. Rejoice.
