Alpha And Omega

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” — Revelation 22:13 ESV

Maybe you can identify with this, maybe you can’t.  But usually, when I read a book, I start at the back of the book and see how it ends before I start reading the beginning.  As I read the book, it puts the storyline in a different perspective, since I know where it is heading. Call me crazy, but it just helps frame things for me.

In Isaiah 46:10, God says that He is “declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done.” Notice He declares the end from the beginning.  While we are in a crazy time right now, the sovereign God is seated in heaven, ruling the universe, declaring how it will all end.  He sees the end and He is working all things toward that point.  All of history is pointing towards one moment — when Jesus returns and makes the wrongs right, and when we enter into the eternal state with Him.

He is the Alpha — the One was there at the beginning, the Creator. “In the beginning was the Word” (John 1:1); “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:2); “all things were created through him and for him.” (Col. 1:16).

And He is the Omega — the end.  “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done” (Rev. 22:12); “Behold, he is coming with the clouds…every eye will see him” (Rev. 1:7)

The One who created all things will soon consulate all things, and every uncertainty you face today will make sense, and every injustice in the world will be made right.  Trust in the Omega, for He is the Alpha, and He is ordering your steps in the here and now.
