“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17 NKJV
Have you ever noticed that when you go without food for a long time, your body becomes weak and your mind becomes foggy? The same is true for your faith. If you don't regularly feed your faith with the Word of God, it will become weak and ineffective. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. This means that we need to regularly expose ourselves to the Word of God in order to increase our faith. But it's not just a matter of listening to sermons or reading the Bible once in a while. It's about intentionally and consistently feeding your faith on a daily basis. Just like you need to eat at least once a day to keep your body strong, you need to take in the Word of God daily to keep your faith strong. This means spending time reading the Bible, meditating on it, and speaking it out loud. It means surrounding yourself with other believers who will encourage you in your faith and challenge you to grow.
But it's not just about the quantity of the Word you take in; it's also about the quality. When you feed your faith with the Word of God, you need to do so with the intention of truly understanding and applying what you're learning. Don't just read the Bible to check it off your to-do list; read it with the expectation that God will speak to you and reveal Himself to you in new ways.
Feeding your faith is not just a one-time event or a short-term goal. It's a lifelong journey of growing in your knowledge and understanding of God's Word. But the more you feed your faith, the stronger it will become, and the more effective you will be in living out God's purposes for your life. So make it a priority to feed your faith every day. Set aside time to read and meditate on the Word of God, and surround yourself with other believers who will encourage you in your faith. As you do, you will see your faith grow and deepen, and you will be better equipped to live a life that glorifies God.
