Is God Really Good?

by Kaylee Jordan (info below)

The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. Psalm 145:9

Have you ever wondered about God’s Character? Like, is he truly good? Is he really faithful? Is he who he says he is? God is…. So simple, yet we have made him out to be SO complex.

Since I haved lived in New Orleans I have seen so much poverty around me. So many broken people, sick people, angry people, lost people. It’s hard to imagine this is life that God has set before us. A fallen world with a lost identity to it’s creator. Many people have believed a lie since they were a child that they will never amount to much. I have heard many heartbreaking stories of childhood trauma and I have questioned the goodness of God. Is this the life we must live? Is this the life set before us? But the question that was yet to remain wasn’t of His goodness to me but of my trust in Him. But wait, that doesn't sound right, how can you trust in something you’re not certain is good? If I have questioned God’s Character then I must also have to question my own. it’s only fair that I would have to question the creation of the creator since we are one of the same. Maybe he’s not flawed, maybe I am. Maybe he’s not wicked, maybe I am. Maybe he’s on time and I'm late.

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13

As humans, I believe we have created this idea in our minds that we know the difference between what is considered good and evil...and usually is based on a biased judgement filtered through the lenses of our own circumstances. Can we correctly make good judgement on the little that we do know? I don’t know about you, but I am not all knowing and foreseeing as God. But what I do know is that good and evil stems back all the way to Adam and Eve, and if I can’t accurately claim every good and evil account, then maybe I can’t have a say in the judgement Seat. God is FOR us not against us. God is the embodiment of good.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” - Romans 8:31.

So in all, God is good my friend, and he REALLY does want the best for us.
