THE ANOINTING THAT HEALS

“And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” — Acts 10:38 NLT

Jesus’ ministry was very different from the religious crowd in His day.  I could sum up the difference in one word: results.  Everywhere Jesus went, he had results.  Here’s what I mean by that: things changed when Jesus came around.  Nobody could stay the same.  The impossible became possible, lives were transformed, all things became new… even the dead came back to life.  No matter how bad the situation was, Jesus was able to turn it around in a moment.

The religious leaders of Jesus’ day were all talk and no action.  They had theories about what God was like, but they had no power to change people’s lives.

Jesus was so radically different than them that they crucified Him!  He made them look bad because He left a trail of transformed lives all around Him, which were evidence of the power of God upon Him — something the religious leaders didn’t have.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus life produced two main results, as listed in Acts 10:38 above:

1- Everywhere Jesus went, needs were met
2- Everywhere Jesus went, hurts were healed

Think about that for a moment — “Jesus went around doing good.”  What does that mean? That means He went around meeting people’s needs.  That’s simple.  He met needs.   Think about it.  When people were sick, He healed them.  When people were oppressed, He freed them.  When people were When people were in sin, He forgave them and transformed them.  When people were in deception, He spoke the truth in love.  Jesus’ ability to do good and meet needs even goes to the radical power of His resurrection — when people were dead, Jesus told them to live and they got up and started walking around.  Jesus went around doing good.

But Jesus didn’t just “do good.”  He also rescued people from the oppression of the devil.  A lot of people and organizations “do good.” But only Jesus sets people free from the oppression of the devil.  When satan put sickness on people, Jesus healed them and canceled the attack against their body.  When satan made people insane, Jesus’ touch miraculously put people back in their right minds.  When people found themselves in hopeless situations they never thought they would end up in — and thought they would never get out of — Jesus was there to change everything and bring about a new freedom that seemed so impossible before.

Do you have unmet needs?  Do you have unhealed hurts?  Has the devil wreaked havoc in your life or in your family ?  I’ve got good news for you:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

Call upon His name today.  He is waiting to meet your needs and heal your hurts.  It’s what He does.
